Leigh Francis doesn't want US success

Leigh Francis doesn't want to become famous in the US because he enjoys going on "normal" holidays there.

The comedian is known throughout Britain for his alter ego Keith Lemon and his TV shows 'Celebrity Juice', 'Bo' Selecta' and 'The Keith Lemon Sketch Show'.

At the moment Leigh is unknown in America and he wants to keep it that way so he can continue to enjoy breaks there with his wife Jill Carter and there two children as regular people.

In an interview with The Sun newspaper, he said: "It's lovely when you go to a foreign country and you can be normal again. That's why I go on holiday to America quite a lot, because it's one of the places where nobody knows me.

"If the Americans said, 'We want your programme,' I obviously wouldn't say no! But I'm not going to chase it. There's nothing wrong with English TV. It's the best telly in the world."

Leigh usually never gives interviews or appears at showbiz events out of character and he insists Keith's wacky persona is far more interesting than his real personality anyway.

He added: "I don't want anyone to know who I really am - I prefer being Keith. Everyone goes a bit weird when it's just me. They look at me as if springs are boinging out of my head. Because you only know Keith Lemon, you don't know Leigh Francis, so it's weird."
