Jorgie Porter talks Hollyoaks exit

Actress Jorgie Porter has teased fans about whether her character will be killed off in Hollyoaks.

The 28-year-old star has played Theresa McQueen on the Channel 4 soap since 2008 and viewers will see the character leave the show tonight (10Mar16). While Jorgie will miss working on the series, she had a great time shooting her final scenes.

“I have loved playing Theresa McQueen and am so sad to leave Hollyoaks, but I have hugely enjoyed my exit plot and viewers will have to watch tonight to see whether it really is the end of Theresa!” Jorgie, who was 20 when she joined Hollyoaks, said in a statement.

"When I look back, the crew and staff at Hollyoaks have had such a major part in my life from youth to young adulthood and I will miss working with everyone.

"Being on the show has led to me working with fantastic actors and directors and making friends for life. I laughed every single day on set."

Soap bosses have promised an “emotional twist of events” in the lead up to Theresa’s departure. The character has had her fair share of dramas, including a teen pregnancy, being targeted by a serial killer, an escape from jail and the murder of Calvin Valentine (played by Ricky Whittle).

Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood is also sorry to see such an exciting character leave the show.

"Theresa McQueen will always have a special place in my heart and those of the audience,” he said.

"Jorgie made Theresa a pocket-sized soap icon and is a ball of energy on set. I know that she will go on to do great things and the cast and crew will miss her greatly."

Jorgie has been involved in other TV projects since joining the soap, most recently taking part in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
