Grimshaw 'brings new sense of fun to X Factor'

Simon Cowell thinks Nick Grimshaw brings a "new sense of fun" to The X Factor, according to reports.

The BBC Radio One Breakfast host has joined the ITV singing competition as a judge this year alongside Simon, Rita Ora and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. It seems the 30-year-old has settled in well and has been a big hit with the whole team.

"Simon thinks Grimmy defines the new sense of fun," a show insider told British magazine Heat. "He's like The X Factor's David Walliams figure - he can do or say anything, and he's been a blast at the auditions."

However fellow newbie Rita, 24, admitted to the outlet that the DJ's chatty personality can interrupt her focus when it comes to finding new talent. But as they were good friends before being signed up to the show, she feels she can be blunt with him when she needs to be.

"He's the biggest distraction in the world, and he loves to chat," she said. "The producers are like, 'Look, Grimmy, if you can just not get involved in this one, we'd really appreciate it.' I was like 'Babe, they're telling you to shut the f**k up.' It's all done out of love, obviously."

The Radioactive singer isn't the only one distracted by Nick though. Cheryl, 32, loves the fact the star is keeping her entertained this year.

"Nick's hilarious. He's cracking me up," she added to the outlet. "He's a people person. I'm like that, but I learned when to stop. Nick will be like 'Blah, blah, blah,' and Simon will go, 'Nick, can you just tell them, are they through or not?'"
