Ferne McCann 'seals I’m A Celeb deal'

The Only Way is Essex star Ferne McCann is rumoured to have signed up to appear in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.

The outspoken TV personality would certainly cause a stir if she joins the jungle later this month (Nov15), with ITV bosses said to be confident that “sparks will fly” when she inevitably clashes with other famous contestants. According to insiders, Ferne agreed to appear on the reality show following problems signing up fellow TOWIE stars Gemma Collins and Chloe Sims.

“TOWIE stars make great contestants and we were determined to get one of them this year,” a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “Our first choice was Gemma (Collins). Her appearance last year was a bit of a disaster, but it did make great telly and she definitely has unfinished business on the show.

“We got her in for psych tests, but there were issues. Then we approached Chloe (Sims), but again there were issues.

“But now we have finally got our woman. Ferne is incredibly outspoken and she can be a bit of a stirrer. So if she rubs some of her campmates up the wrong way, sparks will really fly.”

If the deal goes ahead, the 25-year-old blonde could end up joining the Australian jungle alongside rumoured contestants including Made in Chelsea bad boy Spencer Matthews, Union J singer George Shelley and Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattinson. Other names linked to the latest series of the gruelling contest include actress Leslie Ash, former Dragon’s Den businessman Duncan Bannatyne, ex-Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davis and Louis Walsh.

Celebrities will apparently face a tougher psychological screening before they are cleared to compete in the show this year, after Gemma and comic Brian Conley both previously struggled to cope with conditions in the camp.

“They don’t want to take any chances with stars not being able stand the many weeks cooped up in the jungle,” a source explained to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. "They have a duty of care to all those taking part – and if a celebrity is not up to it, they’re not on the show.”

The 15th series of the ITV show starts on November 15 (15).
