A character appeared for the final time without the usual send-off, according to the actor playing the part.

Leon Lopez appeared in the show in February as Linford Short, the foster brother of Vincent Hubbard, played by Richard Blackwood.

The former Brookside star was in scenes in the cafe and the Queen Vic in last night's episode but that may well be the last fans see of him.

Lopez used Twitter to tell a fan that that was his final appearance on screen and that his contract was up.

Speaking to the Digital Spy about his new role on the soap earlier this year he said: "I'm so excited to be working on 'EastEnders' and still can't believe it! It really is a dream come true."

However, there is hope Lopez will be back on the Square somewhere down the line and he told another fan on Twitter he would 'of course' be happy to return.
