Danny Dyer discusses risque EastEnders storyline

Danny Dyer has asked fans to have faith in his EastEnders character ahead of a storyline which sees him get cosy with his son's girlfriend.

The cockney actor has played Mick Carter in the BBC soap since December 2013 and fans saw his alter ego marry Linda (Kellie Bright) on New Year's Day (1Jan16).

However it seems like it hasn't taken him long to stray from his wife, as photos released from an upcoming episode see him lock lips with his son Lee's (Danny-Boy Hatchard) girlfriend Whitney (Shona McGarty). It takes place after Whitney argues with her beau's sister Nancy (Maddy Hill), and then turns to Mick for a shoulder to cry on.

"Whitney is looking at Mick a bit funny," Danny quipped to Mirror Online.

"Something is coming up with that. She is looking at Mick funny. Looking at me moobs (man boobs) and stuff.

"So, you know... there is a little bit of that going on. Have faith in Mick that is all I'd say to you."

While many would assume Whitney is taking advantage of Mick in her upset state, Danny was quick to clear things up by explaining his son's girlfriend has a lot of issues from the past.

"She is quite a fragile character and she looks up to Mick," he added.

Danny's performance in Albert Square has seen his profile quickly rise, and he even scooped the Best Serial Drama Performance accolade at the National Television Awards on Wednesday (20Jan16). He beat the likes of Alison King in Coronation Street, who he praised in his acceptance speech, as well as giving his parents a shout out.

"I want to thank my mum and dad for having a roll about in 1977 and conceiving me!" he joked on stage.
