Danniella Westbrook's upset over EastEnders comeback
Danniella Westbrook was "quite upset" that her EastEnders comeback didn't allow her to shoot any scenes with Barbara Windsor or Ross Kemp.
The 42-year-old actress appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (17May16) to dismiss claims that she was fired from the BBC soap for unprofessional behaviour.
She reprised her role as Sam Mitchell for her on-screen mother Peggy Mitchell's final scenes. Peggy dies after battling cancer, and Danniella had been expecting to film with her television family, Barbara, Ross and Steve McFadden - Peggy, Grant and Phil Mitchell.
But she was left disappointed when she was only required to shoot scenes at Peggy's funeral, and not with her on-screen relatives.
"I was quite upset at the time because I, along with the general public, expected to work alongside Barbara and Ross," Danniella explained. "And we don't actually all do anything together at any one time. I didn't do anything with them.
"I sort of was (upset) about that because I thought it would have been nice to have us all together doing something. But I literally went in for the funeral and out - I'm literally there for four episodes."
The Sun newspaper claimed on Monday that Danniella had been axed from EastEnders after angering bosses by turning up late and bringing her boyfriend George Arnold to set with her.
But the actress insisted she was only late once when she broke down on the M25 motorway, and George only drove her to work one day.
"I was contracted to do two weeks and I did exactly my contract," she added.
Danniella is now hoping to make a move into a different soap - ITV's Emmerdale.
"There's a bit of me that would because it's comfortable for me (to go back to EastEnders full time), but my dream is to be in Emmerdale," she said. "That's the dream - I'd love to be in Emmerdale. I'm a country girl! I'd quite like to go and do something new and be a different character."
