After a decade in Weatherfield, Kym Marsh has hinted that her character Michelle Connor may leave the soap.

The former singer is contracted to the soap until next summer but she admits that as her current deal gets close to running out, she has pondered a life beyond the cobbles.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Marsh said: “It’s always something that when you are at the end of a contract, you are thinking, ‘Are they going to want me to stay? What do I do?

“That’s always something that people think. Having been on the show for 10 years, you do sit there and go, ‘Would I want to? Would I like to?’”

Marsh's character is at the centre of two huge storylines right now, firstly with husband's Steve's diagnosis with potentially a serious illness.

Secondly, the fact that Steve is expecting a baby with Leanne that Michelle doesn't know about, is certain to be a plot that will run and run for a long time, so the show's producers will surely be anxious to sign her up to a new deal.

Back in March Marsh said that she might stay on the soap 'for another decade' so we will see if the bosses can persuade her.
