Cheryl: Simon still grinds my gears

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini feels there's no escaping Simon Cowell.

The former Girls Aloud singer is back on the panel, taking a spot alongside Simon, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora.

While it's good to make a comeback, the 32-year-old admits that Simon still knows how to grind her gears. The two famously have a fiery relationship, with the music mogul axing Cheryl from the US X Factor back in 2011.

“Me and Simon are still rowing. He knows which buttons to press," she confessed to British newspaper The Sun. “Sometimes I want to move away from him but he won’t let us change seats.

“He just really wants to wind me up to get a response. I don’t think I’ll throw glasses of water on him — I think those days are done. Maybe I’ll use a high heel. That can double up as a weapon, can’t it?”

Despite not always seeing eye to eye, Cheryl adds that she loves the TV bigwig "dearly". And it's very lucky that the gorgeous Geordie gets on so well with the other two judges.

“Rita’s got a really unique way of mixing her metaphors. She says things like, ‘I feel like a fish out of water that just got run over by a bus,'" she grinned.

“And Nick is hilarious.”

Things won't be getting too heated this series, as Cheryl reasons no one wants to watch her fight with Simon.

But it shouldn't be too hard to keep Simon in line anyway, as a teaser for The X Factor shows a whole army of Cheryls. In the TV clip, which will play for the first time on ITV at 7.30pm tonight, the star is cloned to create hoards of 'Chez-Bots', while Radio 1 DJ Nick is fitted with a "judging microchip".

Meanwhile, Rita goes to contestant feedback training, while Simon and his beloved dogs Squiddly and Diddly also make an appearance.
