Charlotte Hawkins: Motherhood has been a 'whirlwind'
Charlotte Hawkins admitted motherhood had been like a "whirlwind" when she visited 'Good Morning Britain' with her new baby daughter Ella Rose.
The 39-year-old TV presenter has been off the show on maternity leave after giving birth in March, but she took the tot in to meet her co-workers live on the ITV show this morning (23.04.15).
Speaking about little Ella Rose, Charlotte said: "It's a whirlwind, it's like a mini tornado hits isn't it, as soon as you have a baby, and it is extremely full, the first few weeks, it's starting to calm down now a bit because she's started to get into some sort of routine but to begin with it's just crazy and nothing prepares you for it."
Charlotte also admitted she thought the early mornings she'd endured in order to present the breakfast TV show would mean she was prepared for the lack of sleep she'd get once the baby arrived, but that hasn't been the case.
Speaking to Susanna Reid, Charlotte said: "Well I thought because of the job that we do and I'm used to getting up in the middle of the night, not getting that much sleep so I thought I'd be quite used to that but turns out no.
"This is sleeplessness on a whole new level because of course you're waking up every couple of hours, even when you are asleep you're on high alert and even when they're asleep you're checking them, going, 'Are they breathing, are they still moving?' "
