Caroline and Olly 'missing out on X Factor judges houses'

Caroline Flack and Olly Murs are reportedly "gutted" after hearing they won't be attended The X Factor Judges' Houses segment.

The two stars are the new hosts of the reality TV programme following the departure of Dermot O'Leary.

Once those in the running for the live final have been decided, they are split into groups which are mentored by one of the four judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nick Grimshaw or Rita Ora. They then jet to glamorous places such as Los Angeles or Nice, where the judges decide who will make it through. Dermot also used to attend, offering on-screen interviews with the hopefuls as they waited to hear if they'd made it through. But this time around things are said to be changing.

"Olly and Caroline are gutted they won’t get to join the judges in all of these locations," an insider told British newspaper The Sun.

“Being with the judges and contestants at this crucial stage is one of the best bits of the job. And it beats being stood in a cold studio in Wembley.

“But they are excited about the series. Of course there’ll be banter with the judges about them missing out."

The decision was because of a refresh of this segment of the show, which will go out during a live weekend this time around. That means Olly and Caroline have to be in a studio, as they wouldn't be able to be in four places at once.

At the moment it's not known where the judges will take the hopefuls, although it's been hinted that Miami and Dubai could be on the cards. Wherever they happen, timings will need to be taken into consideration so they marry up with the UK. In the past none of this mattered as things were recorded in advance and then edited down to be shown over a couple of weekends.
