Carol Vorderman will burn rubber on The Grand Tour premiere

Carol Vorderman will be the first celebrity guest on Jeremy Clarkson's new Amazon Prime series, The Grand Tour.

According to The Sun newspaper, Carol shot scenes in a stunt car at the end of September (16), with the scenes set to be aired in the premiere episode when it debuts on Friday (18Nov16).

In addition, the fact the former Countdown star is currently undertaking Bushtucker Trials on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will undoubtedly give the episode a publicity boost.

"It’s a great coup as the episode will be airing just as she is getting stuck in to all the bugs in the jungle," a source told the newspaper. "Carol knows the boys from way back. She had a ball."

The number queen is no stranger to taking part in motoring shows, having competed on Jeremy's former BBC show Top Gear several times.

After his unceremonious exit from the BBC, Jeremy was joined by his Top Gear co-stars for the new Amazon Prime series.

News of Carol's involvement in the show comes after it was reported the motoring series had one-upped Top Gear by landing some A-list celebrities for their star-studded features, including Matt Damon and Charlize Theron.

However, Jeremy isn't worried about what kind of reception The Grand Tour will get from viewers.

"The stakes are lower. I’m now 56, it doesn’t really matter anymore, because I’ll be dead soon," he told Newsweek magazine.

"People could say, 'This is a terrible programme and Amazon’s wasted its money,’ and I’ll go, ‘Yeah, I’ll be dead before they even notice.'"

Top Gear was taken over by hosts Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc, with the former quitting after failing to impress viewers on the show.

Former Friends star Matt is expected to be returning to present another series of the BBC programme.
