Carol Kirkwood: They'll laugh me off Strictly
Carol Kirkwood is Strictly Come Dancing's "comedy figure".
The new series of the TV dancing competition is due to kick off tomorrow evening on BBC One, with 15 celebrities trying their hand at professional routines on the dance floor.
Weatherwoman Carol is one of them and has opened up about what fans can expect from her moves.
"I am a carthorse. You know there is normally a comedy figure - that's me.
"I've resigned myself to that fact already," she laughed to the BBC, adding she's convinced she'll be voted off first.
Luckily she's already bonded with a fellow contestant, Irish crooner Daniel O'Donnell. With both stars struggling to learn dance steps during rehearsal, they've been able to laugh about having two left feet together.
"Daniel and I were at the back looking at each other. The cha-cha-cha was like a what-what-what? It was a nightmare," Carol sighed.
"You know those races that you put ducks into water and they float away - my duck was just stuck," Daniel smiled, adding he's feeling excited and terrified about what's to come.
"I think the hardest thing is to let yourself go on the dance floor. I don't do that easily."
Already tipped to win is Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre, this year's bookies' favourite. He admits to feeling a lot of pressure to deliver, but popstar Jamelia doesn't think he has anything to worry about. She even confused him for a professional dancer when watching him from afar.
"He is a fantastic dancer - I don't know why he's playing it down," she added.
In fact, she thinks everyone appears to be on good form this year, which is just adding to her nerves.
"I don't think anyone's automatically safe. I think we're all going to have to work our butts off," she concluded.
Other contestants include Call the Midwife actress Helen George, The Wanted star Jay McGuiness and Coronation Street beauty Georgia May Foote. Tune in to BBC One at 7.15pm tomorrow to see the stars and judges Bruno Tonioli, Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Darcey Bussell.
