Billie Piper: 'Being a role model is a struggle'
Billie Piper finds it tough being "successful, ambitious and accomplished".
The 33-year-old actress has played her fair share of strong females during her career, and has become something of a role model thanks to these parts. However, the mother-of-two Billie admits coping with the pressures put upon her as a role model is often tough.
"It’s not easy just to be really successful and ambitious and accomplished," Billie told the Daily Mirror. "It’s not as simple as that. It’s great there are loads of strong role models, but it’s also great to see the truth behind that which is that it’s not something that comes easy. There’s always a struggle. That’s the truth."
Billie is no stranger to hitting the headlines, with her split from husband Laurence Fox making waves in March (16). She has been in the public eye since the age of 14 with her music career, but still enjoys the feeling of being anonymous whenever she can take advantage of it.
However, the former Doctor Who star has become somewhat accustomed to several of the perks that come with being a celebrity, adding: "Queue jumping is the best - sorry, but it is! The lack of ID. But I think I’d be happy to let them go."
Since splitting from Laurence, Billie has been romantically linked to indie rocker Johnny Lloyd.
Meanwhile, actor Laurence revealed in a recent interview that his estranged wife's busy work schedule has led to him concentrating on the former couple's two boys.
"I’m busy being a dad," he said. "The dad job is my job. I do just have to look after the kids at the moment because Billie’s working.
"With divorce, when the other parent is working, you need to be even more on top of it."
