Big Brother launches in typically twisted style
Two Big Brother housemates were put up for eviction just hours after the show launched on Tuesday night (07Jun16).
Rumours have been rife about this year's series for months, with bosses confirming in May that there would be two houses. And as things kicked off on Tuesday, they delivered on their promise of twists galore.
After the 12 initial housemates were welcomed onto the show, the Others - six other contestants - were led, blindfolded, into the second house's garden.
Big Brother then allowed the Others to take off their masks and reveal their identities, before informing them that they aren't actual housemates and will have to steal the places of those inside the main house to stay on the show.
The main housemates were then given a challenge to divide themselves by declaring their best attribute. Options on offer included "beautiful" and "intelligent", but Laura Carter caused controversy when she put herself behind the "sexy" mantel. The Others were then tasked with placing one housemate up for eviction, but didn't know who had chosen what attribute. Instead, they decided that the person who deemed themselves the sexiest deserved to be up for eviction.
After Laura was told she was up, she was then asked to choose another housemate to join her in the firing line. She opted for Lateysha Grace, who formerly found fame on MTV reality show The Valleys.
However, host Emma Willis hinted that not everything is as it seems, meaning Laura and Lateysha could actually be safe.
Emma also told viewers to expect the unexpected when the Others and housemates meet each other, suggesting one of the Others may be an ex of housemate Jason Burrill's.
The line-up for the new series, which included the model son of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White and twins Emma and Victoria Jensen, divided opinion among viewers.
While some were looking forward to seeing what was in store for the housemates, others declared it to be the "worst line up ever".
"Woah #BigBrother. Strange line up, especially shocking you let that wannabe who is desperate to be famous. Yawn," one viewer tweeted, before another added, "What an awful line up."
