This could've been a lot worse.

Rule number one of the safe cross code is 'always look both ways'.

And this headcam footage captured by a biker in Dublin proves the value of this rule.

Recorded by biker Martin McGowan, the footage shows the moment a pedestrian is seen running into traffic and passing a car without looking right. It results in a fairly painful-looking collision, which could have been much worse had the biker been travelling faster.

It was recorded outside the Convention Centre off the Quays.

Speaking to Broadsheet, McGowan said: "Caught this footage on Thursday, May 28, at around 4pm at the Convention Centre in Dublin. Didn’t have time to stop and give my details to the biker (as I was heading off on a stag).

"If that was a car she would’ve been in far worse shape!"
