Video: Ariana Grande in trouble for licking doughnuts and hating America
In what is a contender for oddest story of the summer so far, Ariana Grande is in hot water after a bizarre incident in a doughnut shop.
Police are investigating the incident, which can be seen in a video posted by TMZ.
It shows the singer, and a man identified as backing dancer Ricky Alvarez, licking doughnuts in a place called Wolfee Donuts in southern California.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the 22-year-old can be clearly heard to say 'I hate America' in the video.
The singer has sought to explain her behaviour in a statement, where she appears to claim she was motivated by concerns about America's obesity problem.
“I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country. What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the doughnuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words,” the statement read.

"As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole."
The singer did not mention the licking but the local police and public health officials are investigating the incident.
