Vaginal speaker means music can be played to unborn babies
A Spanish company has just launched a speaker that can be inserted into the vagina, allowing music to be played to children in the womb.
On the product's website, the product description describes how it can help the development of the unborn:
"Babies learn to speak in response to sound stimuli, especially melodic sound.
"Babypod is a device that stimulates before birth through music. With Babypod, babies learn to vocalise from the womb."
The makers recommend it can be used from Week 16 of the pregnancy and the manufacturers claim that 10 to 20 minutes of music should improve the development of the foetus.
Available from the company's website for just under €150, the speaker doesn't use Bluetooth and is powered by a smartphone.
Parents to be can even plug split headphones into the device while it is in the vagina and listen along with their soon-to-be-born child.
