This girl's lice infestation will make your skin crawl.

A video posted to YouTube shows a person, presumably the parent of the child, pulling a nit comb through the child's hair.

The comb is pulled through the hair a number of times for about a minute before the parent raises it to the camera.

When the camera focuses you can clearly see a large number of lice crawling over the comb.

A lecturer at the University of Reading’s School of Biological Sciences said the case was a particularly severe one.

"They [infestations] are very common in the UK and in Europe, but not to this level,’  Dr Alejandra Perotti told MailOnline.

"I work in forensic sciences and these types of cases are found in cases of neglect of children or the elderly.

"You also see it in cases of homeless people."

Lice hatch from eggs at around a week and grow to full size within 10 days, feeding on human blood as they go.
