Thieves steal €46,000 of bull semen
Some extremely valuable bull semed fell into the wrong hands this weekend.
Thieves pulled off the crime in California by nicking almost $50,000 (€46,000) of the stuff from the back of a farm van.
The bulls that had provided the valuable load were highly prized, among the top one per cent genetically in the world according to farm owner John Azevedo.
It seems the robbers were not on the hunt for the precious cargo as they also took petrol from the van owned by the man who obtained the semen, Turlock resident Anthony Reis.
“You’re trying to make a living — the loss of all those units of semen, and probably taken by someone who had no idea what they were stealing, is very frustrating,” he told CBS.
There was enough semen to impregnate 1,000 cows in the van but the fear now is that the load is lost as those who took it won't know what it is and they will simply throw it away.
