Teenage 'nugget guy' gets most retweeted tweet of all time
Teenager Carter Wilkerson has earned himself a year's supply of free chicken nuggets from Wendy's after breaking the record for the world's most re-tweeted Twitter post.
The 16 year old from Nevada - who is now virally known as 'nugget guy' - has been on a mission to gain 18 million retweets after the fast food company set him the challenge when he messaged Wendy's on the social media site to ask what it would take for them to grant his fried chicken wish.
Carter did not reach the set target but did get 3.6 million retweets which has enabled him to beat former record holder Ellen DeGeneres, who posted a famous selfie of her partying with her fellow A-list stars at the Oscars in 2014.
Carter appeared on Ellen's chat show to gain further support for his nugget plea, even though she was determined to stop him from breaking her record.
Revealing that he had achieved his goal to get the nuggets, Carter tweeted: "'We did it guys! Thanks to you're help and support we were able to raise $100k for @DTFA and beat @TheEllenShow record! Now let's get 18mil! (sic)"
The official Wendy's account also posted: "@carterjwm is now the most retweeted tweet of all-time. That's good for the nuggets, and $100k to @DTFA. Consider it done. #nuggsforcarter (sic)"
