Squirrel injures three pensioners in nursing home rampage
An out of control squirrel attacked three people in a senior care facility in Florida, US, yesterday.
A distressed woman called 911 on Thursday afternoon requesting medical assistance.
The caller said at least three people were attacked by a squirrel at around 2 p.m. after it got into the activity room.
“It’s jumping on people and biting them and scratching them,” the caller said. “It’s still in there and people are bleeding.”
Frantic pensioners can be heard squawking in the background, with one woman clearly saying “I feel light-headed. I don’t feel good.”
During the more than three minute phone call the rampaging rodent was picked up and flung out the window of the centre.
“I don’t know if we need an ambulance, but we need some care for people here,” the caller said. “ … The people are bleeding.”
The caller finally told the 911 operator that they had gotten to safety in the office and lobby, after the squirrel was ejected from the premises.
