A study has proved rats in cheap trousers have a less active sex life.

An Egyptian fertility researcher has won the IG Nobel Prize for his research, which led him to discover rodents who have previously worn polyester pants were less successful in the bedroom department, according to The Times newspaper.

Ahmed Shafik dressed 75 rats in rodent-sized trousers to see how it affected their sex lives.

The annual awards, which were launched in 1990, are designed to reward amusing scientific research offering a cash prize of a Zimbabwean ten trillion dollar bill.
