PICS: Eiffel Tower lights up in Red, White and Blue
France's gentle healing process took another step forward tonight as its greatest landmark - the Eiffel Tower - returned to action with a patriotic twist.
The tourist attraction, closed to the public since Friday's terrorist attacks which resulted in the death of at least 129 people, returned to service today.
And, in a Gallic twist, the cherished monument was illuminated with the country's trademark red, white and blue as dusk fell.
The words "fluctuat nec mergitur" - the city's Latin motto, meaning "tossed but not sunk" - were also beamed onto a section of the tower.
