The much-loved broadcaster, who passed away last May, has been excellently remembered by means of a brilliant mural in a Phibsboro pub.

A wonderful tribute to great Irish sports broadcaster Bill O’Herlihy has been painted in The Back Page pub in Phibsboro, Dublin 7.

The mural, etched onto a wall in the pub's beer garden, depicts Billo in his stunning 'clap-hat' which he donned following an Italia 90 second-round victory over Romania for the Boys in Green.

Having won the tie 5-4 on penalties after extra time, Jack Charlton's charges had historically made it into a World Cup quarter-final for the first time in the nation's history.

The excitement was palpable back in the RTE studios, levels of giddiness rising so high that Bill donned the amusing headwear to celebrate the famous victory.

One of many of the much-missed broadcaster's great moments on Irish television has now been turned into a wonderful tribute to the late Corkman.
