Paddy Power have just come up with another classic taunt for Scotland
They’re at it again, that Paddy Power crowd.
Not content with stirring it up with the English fans ahead of last Sunday’s friendly international, the cheeky bookmaker has taken to the streets of the capital with a huge advert on the side of a truck taking the mickey out of our Scottish cousins ahead of Saturday’s make-or-break qualifier at the Aviva Stadium.
The tongue-in-cheek poster depicts Roy Keane in ‘Braveheart’ mode (except he’s adorned in green paint, not the blue of Willam Wallace) along with the tagline “You May Take Our Points, But At Least We Have Our Freedom (….Ya Wee Pussies)”.
The jibe is in reference to the failed Scottish independence bid in their recent referendum.
“You can’t but admire a nation that turned deep frying a Mars Bar into culinary art, but we just couldn’t resist a bit of craic with our Celtic brothers ahead of the match,” said spokesman Paddy Power.
“Obviously we’d love for our lads to pull the Scotsmen’s skirts up, but the only certainty is that both sets of fans will join for a whiskey and a rant about the English after the game.”
