New laws look to ban free porn

Popular x-rated movies may become more difficult to access as some websites face total ban in the UK.

It is not yet known if Ireland will follow by example.

The new laws planned by the UK government means that British users will now have to verify their age to access online porn.

Currently, all UK-based adult websites have an age verification policy in place to protect children from viewing unsuitable content.

However, under new legislation, users who wish to access porn will have to prove their age with a valid passport, credit card number or UK mobile phone number.

Any website that breaches the proposed regulations could be blocked.

In a recent statement, British Prime Minister David Cameron said: “I want to see age restrictions put into place or these websites will face being shut down.”

Last year the government banned UK producers from filming certain sex acts such as aggressive whipping, spanking, female ejaculation and fisting.

However, international adult-websites such as PornHub and RedTube do not have to follow the UK regulations-anyone is allowed to watch their content and a number of sex acts banned last year by the Government is available to watch freely on those sites.

The Government is to continue to set out tighter rules for unregulated adult websites in the coming months.

Joanna Shields, the minister for internet safety and security said: “Whilst great progress has been made, we remain acutely aware of the risks and dangers that young people face online.

“This is why we are committed to taking action to protect children from harmful content. Companies delivering adult content in the UK must take steps to make sure these sites are behind age verification controls.'
