An anonymous man has touched many hearts with a lovely message he pinned to his late wife's wedding dress when donating it to charity.

The dress, from the 1950s, was handed in to a branch of St Gemma's Hospice Charity Shop in Leeds this week with a handwritten note that read:

"I wish any lady who takes this dress to have a life with her loved one, 56 years like I did, happy years. I was a lucky man to marry a lady like mine".

The staff wanted to find out who the mystery donor was and posted the dress and the note to their Facebook page.

They soon found the man in question and while he wished to remain anonymous, he is said to be 'overwhelmed' by the reaction.

The dress is now for sale on eBay to maximise the value as all proceeds will go to St Gemma's Hospice in Leeds, a charity close to the donor's heart
