Man avoids jail after 'cocaine' turns out to be mash potato
A man avoided jail after a suspected line of cocaine turned out to be mashed potato.
Police in Brest in France pulled over two young men after witnessing one of them holding his mobile phone horizontally and sniffing a suspicious-looking white powder.
Ultimately, however, it turned to be mashed potato starch rather than cocaine, as had been suspected.
Although one of the men had apparently tried to acquire the drug, he was sold potato instead - and the police were forced to release both men without charge.
