Man attacks GP surgery with hammer
A man went on a rampage at his local GP surgery with a hammer.
Martin Winks shouted "No one cares, someone has to do something" as he entered the York surgery wielding a hammer that he had taken from a builder, which he used to smash the glass at the reception desk and the check-in screen.
The 50-year-old patient, who was upset about the length of time it had taken for a dermatologist to see him, then advanced down the corridor towards healthcare assistant, Janet Appleby, who broke her foot in 4 places while trying to run away from him.
Martin - who caused £5,000 worth of damage - was given a 15-month prison sentence, suspended for two years on condition he completes 18 months supervision.
