A 65-year-old grandmother has ignited a row in her Devon village - with neighbours posting angry notes through her front door.

Her crime? Hanging her frilly underwear on a washing line.

The audacious behaviour from Rozamun Perrin, who dared to dry a pair of her own knickers on a washing line above her patio, has sent Stokeinteignhead village into a tailspin.

One resident even sent her a poorly-spelled note, in anger.

It read: "It is total inapropriate [sic] for this type of garment to be displayed opposite the village primary school. There are member of this community that would welcome a halting of this. Thank you."

The missive was posted through her letterbox along with a pair of Perrin's black frilly pants.

Naturally, her shocked daughter Charlotte Wilkinson has posted the whole thing on Facebook to resounding support.

"Seriously the small-minded, prudishness of this village is UNBELIEVABLE!!" she wrote.

"My mum found this note and her knickers posted through the door this morn ....didn't know there was a law against hanging your knickers on the line? The prude can't spell either."

Almost 1,000 people have liked her post, with dozens suggesting that other residents of Stokeinteignhead should copy Perrin and hang their 'sexiest' underwear around the house.

Some have even sent her their knickers in the post, as a show of solidarity. Others accused the 'village prude' of trespassing by taking the knickers from Perrin's line.
