Chart-topping double act Hall and Oates are saying "no can do" to a New York company selling granola called Haulin' Oats.

The pop music duo is suing Brooklyn-based Early Bird Foods in federal court.

They are accusing the company of violating trademark protections with its "phonetic play on Daryl Hall and John Oates' well-known brand name".

The lawsuit is asking the court to order Early Bird Foods to stop using the Haulin' Oats name on packages of granola.

It also said the company should hand over any profits made from the brand.

Hall and Oates are best known for decades-old hits like "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)," ''Sara Smile" and "Rich Girl."

Early Bird Foods made no immediate comment.
