Ahead of the big event tonight, here are the contestants, including our very own Aoife Hickey

The winner will instantly become one of the country’s most recognisable faces and will go on to represent Ireland at the Miss World finals in Australia later in the year.

With the title comes fame and an instant VIP status, the reality of which is slowly sinking in as 29 perfectly coiffed finalists flurry excitedly from hair to makeup on set of our plush shoot in the lavish Crowne Plaza Hotel, the setting for this year’s final.

Snapping from pose to pose, Miss Sunday World Aoife Hickey stands front and centre, but despite her striking attributes, Aoife is adamant that everyone is a competitor for the crown.

“I can’t even think about winning, it gives me butterflies in my stomach. I don’t know what I would do, I’d probably cry or faint on stage,” gushes the gorgeous brunette. “That or die. As the competition gets closer it’s becoming so real, I’m feeling a mix of emotions, I’m nervous but so excited.

“Different people will tell you that you are one of the favourites but it’s not something I dwell on because I really don’t want to get my hopes up and, to be honest, I just don’t believe them. I just want to enjoy the experience more than anything.”

The winner will be crowned at the Crowne Plaza in Santry on tonight.

Best of luck Aoife!
