Boy (5) uses power tool to attach steel nut to his finger
Firefighters in Connecticut had to be called in after a five-year-old boy used a power tool to thread a steel nut on to one of his fingers.
Stamford Fire Department said the boy used a screw gun-type power tool to thread the 3/8in nut on to an index finger, past the first knuckle.
Staff at a hospital could not remove the nut, so they called in the fire department.
The boy was sedated and firefighters cut the nut using a rotary tool.
They used saline to dissipate the heat and a metal dipstick to protect the finger.
Officials said two cuts were made to spread the nut, and it slid off the finger, leaving the boy unharmed.
