There's a Blood Moon on the rise - and Jesus is arriving too
'Bible belt' Christians in the US have been busy preparing for the second coming after a pastor has predicted the return of Christ based on a rare phenomenon this coming weekend.
Pastor John Hagee's forecast is based on the anticipated appearance of the so-called Blood Moon, which is a celestial event that will cause the skies over North America, Asia and Australia be transformed into a red colour.
Pastor Hagee argues the Blood Moon is hugely significant, saying: "Joel Chapter Two also says the 'Day of the Lord will be as when the sun refuses to shine'.
"Even Jesus himself, in the Book of Luke, states there 'will be signs in the sun, moon and stars' and to 'lift up your heads for redemption draws nigh'.
"There's a sequence of prophetic events that the Bible says will happen.
"It does not, ever, give a timeline."
The moon’s red tint is caused by the Earth covering the sun. This red light from the rim of the Earth then beams onto moon, transforming it into a giant red orb.
Seeing as the rare phenomenon won't be seen here in Europe it is unclear whether Jesus will actually visit this side of the Atlantic.
More on that as we get it...
