A woman was taken to hospital to remove a shark from her arm.

The 23 year old spent the weekend in a hospital in Boca Raton, Florida, getting the two-foot long deadly creature, who locked its jaw tight on to her arm, prized from her limb.

The beastly sea animal turned violent after she had been petting it at Red Reef Park on Sunday (15.05.16), according to an onlooker.

One eyewitness told the Sun Sentinel: "The shark wouldn't give up.

"It was barely breathing but it wasn't letting go of her arm, like it was stuck to her or something."

However, the baby shark did not survive the operation.

Speaking about the creatures tendencies, a spokesperson from the US National Park Service said: "Attacks on humans are rare but not unknown.

"The bite reflex is such that it may be some minutes before a quietly re-immersed nurse shark will relax and release its tormentor. The small teeth seldom penetrate deeply but are razor sharp.

"Holding still reduces damage to both shark and man. Leaving sharks alone is the best tactic."
