BANANARAMA has been chosen to play one of the most popular stages at this year’s Electric Picnic – the Electric Ireland tent for its ‘Throwback Party’.

The occasion has already become the stuff of legend, with Bonnie Tyler causing a crowd surge outside the tent two years ago and even an ironic power cut didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the thousands who clambered to see the Welsh singer.
Another 80s act set to cause another sensation this year is Banarama, while attendees of the sold-out, three day festival can expect to enjoy a feast of nostalgic entertainment spanning the ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s at the Electric Ireland stage with a string of other timeless performers.
The first act to be announced for the Electric Ireland state are pop-synth princesses Bananarama, who will perform floor-filling classics like Cruel Summer, Venus and Love in the First Degree on the Saturday night.
In addition to great Throwback music acts and daily dance-offs to throwback hits, attendees will also be able to take time out to chill while enjoying classic movies such as Grease and Top Gun, all hosted at the Electric Ireland stage throughout the weekend.
Speaking about their upcoming performance at Electric Picnic on Saturday night September 3, Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward of Bananarama (who are performing as a duo) remarked, “We are so excited to play Electric Picnic for the first time where we’ll take to the stage at Electric Ireland’s Throwback Party. We haven’t played in Ireland for a long time and have really missed playing to an Irish crowd.”
And there’s good news for those still looking for Electric Picnic tickets; Electric Ireland is giving away 30 weekend tickets in its much-anticipated annual ticket giveaway. The tickets will be given away through Electric Ireland Throwback Live, a five day Facebook Live competition. To be in with a chance of winning, entrants simply need to log on to Electric Ireland’s Facebook page each day at 7.30pm where they can participate in a live throwback competition. The competition will run for a total of five consecutive days from Monday, August 22 to Friday 26th.
As official energy partner to Electric Picnic, Electric Ireland also installs six kilometres of energy efficient festoon lighting around the campsites and walkways to guide festivalgoers around the festival.
