Sigourney Weaver has 'unfinished business' with Alien saga

Sigourney Weaver thinks the 'Alien' saga is "slightly unfinished".

The 65-year-old actress, who starred as Ellen Ripley in the iconic sci-fi franchise, admits she's keen to see the story of her on-screen character completed.

Speaking before the new 'Alien' movie was announced, Sigourney said: "It's true we did leave the story in a nebulous place. I didn't want to go to Earth. I didn't think that was very interesting. But I must say, part of me would like the story to end.

"You have to reinvent the envelope, do things that are beloved and at the same time take it to a new place. It's a very difficult thing and I don't think it's anything a studio can manufacture."

Last month, it was announced South African-Canadian film director Neill Blomkamp is to helm the much-anticipated new movie, and the pair have just finished working together on another sci-fi film, 'Chappie'.

However, speaking prior to the announcement, Sigourney told The Sunday Times newspaper: "There are a couple of people who I think would do a good job [as director].

"The wonderful thing is the movies are still being watched and still hold up pretty well. We'll have to continue this conversation when and if anything happens."
