Shohreh Aghdashloo to star in Star Trek Beyond
Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined the cast of 'Star Trek Beyond'.
Deadline reports that Shohreh is to film new scenes on the sci-fi sequel, as re-shoots are to take place following principle photography wrapping last October.
Shohreh will play the High Command of the Federation.
The Justin Lin-directed movie sees Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and the Enterprise crew out on their five-year mission to explore strange new worlds but they encounter a hostile alien race and left stranded on a strange planet with no spacecraft or hope of rescue.
The forthcoming sci-fi movie, which was originally set to be released on July 8, 2016, won't hit cinema screens now until July 22, 2016 due to the required re-shoots. It is coming out the same year the original TV series celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The change of release date means the Paramount film will now go up against Warner Bros' 'King Arthur' and Fox's 'Ice Age: Collision Course' at the box office.
Simon Pegg - who co-wrote the eagerly-anticipated film alongside Doug Jung - previously revealed there was a lot of pressure to get the script in on time.
Speaking about the tight schedule, he said: "It was a very truncated process because the time frame was a lot shorter than we'd normally have. It's really forced us into action; you make use of the time you have."
'Star Trek Beyond' sees Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zacharay Quinto reprise their roles from the previous two movies.
