Sam Strike to star in Leatherface?

Sam Strike is in talks to star in 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' prequel 'Leatherface'.

The former 'EastEnders' actor, who played Johnny Carter in the BBC One soap, is in negotiations to take on a lead role in the upcoming horror movie being put together by Millenium Films, according to TheWrap.

The 21-year-old star - who quit 'EastEnders' in December after a year on the popular drama - is in talks to play Jackson, the teenager that grows up to be the murderer and cannibal Leatherface.

The film - which is to be directed by 'Inside' filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo from a script by Seth M. Sherwood - will reportedly serve as an origin story that follows Leatherface's early years in the 70s.

Although Sam is yet to confirm he is to star in the film, he did hint at his latest project on Twitter yesterday (09.03.15).

He wrote: "Started at the gym yesterday in prep for a cheeky new roll id love to tell you about. But can't.I'm ACHING.Forgot what its like to exercise (sic)."

Meanwhile, his agent Lee Morgan also suggested the reports may be true having congratulated Sam last week stating there was "exciting news to follow" before also taking to the social networking site yesterday (09.03.15) to write: "Many questions sent on my last tweet @SamStrike - he has been offered the lead role in a very big US film, Info soon (sic)."

The news of Sam's involvement comes after his former 'EastEnders' colleague Ben Hardy, who played Peter Beale on the soap, was said to have landed a role in the upcoming 'X-Men: Apocalypse'.
