Minions invade Dublin to promote their new movie
DUBLIN witnessed a Minion Invasion this week as the three characters from the Minions movie sailed into the city.
They arrived on a bright yellow rowing boat before the trio descended upon Ireland’s capital, taking in various iconic landmarks along the way.
The Minions, who go by the names of Kevin, Stuart and Bob, sailed along the River Liffey in the early hours of the morning as part of a promotional tour to celebrate the launch of the Minions movie, in cinemas June 26th.
The three banana-loving characters then caught the Luas into the city where they visited a number of local landmarks and posed for pictures with stunned passers-by and tourists.
The trio appeared to get a bit lost on O’Connell Street as Stuart was spotted checking a map of Dublin by the GPO but it wasn’t long before they found their way and continued with their whistle-stop tour of the city.
The movie stars’ packed schedule included a visit to RTE’s Fair City set, a picture opportunity by The Spire, a quick visit to Dublin Zoo and a selfie by Molly Malone.
The trio then made a special visit to meet some of their biggest fans at Temple Street Children’s Hospital where they were greeted by over 200 delighted children.
Continuing their tour of Dublin, Kevin, Stuart and Bob made a special visit to the Government Buildings at the ‘Enda’ the day and, despite not getting an audience with the Taoiseach, the characters enjoyed their visit to the historic building, where they caused quite a stir with the public who were quick to ask for a photos with the characters and take to social media to claim their bragging rights for having met the Minions.
