Gallery: Mairead Farrell marries Louis Ronan
Ireland’s most recognisable radio stars have descended on Tipperary for Mairead Farrell’s wedding. The broadcaster (35) and businessman Louis Ronan (29) wed this afternoon in a low-key ceremony just outside Clonmel, Co Tipperary.
The pair, who have been together for three years, exchanged vows at St Michael’s Church in Ballyclearhan, attended by family and friends.
Mairead opted for classic elegance in a satin white gown with a sweetheart neckline, while her new husband looked dapper in a three piece suit. Her eight-year-old son Dara, who was acting Best Man, looked smart and adorable in a custom black suit.
Even the forecasted rain subsided for the afternoon and the sun shone as the happy couple made their way into the church and beamed as they posed for photographers.
As she made her to the service, the bride was joined by Dara, her father and wedding planner Franc Kelly of Weddings by Franc. Her bridesmaids, Imelda Donnelly and new sister-in-law Zara Ronan, were chic in dusty pink full length dresses.
Louis and Mairead became engaged in August after three years of dating and while they have preferred to keep their relationship away from the spotlight, Mairead has gushed over the “man of her dreams” in the run up to their wedding.
The pair exchanged vows in Louis’ native Tipperary and the bubbly brunette previously joked that the town would be “overtaken by plenty of Dubs” for their big day.
And she stayed true to her word as a host of famous faces from Irish broadcasting descended on the small town for her nuptials. RTE’s Ray D'Arcy and Jenny Kelly, who worked with Mairead for 15 years, looked effortlessly glamorous, as did Ian Dempsey and his wife Ger. Radio legend Marian Finucane was a surprise guest John Clarke and popular broadcaster Louise Duffy added an injection of colour in an off the shoulder, cobalt blue bodycon dress.
