Ever wondered how the pros do it? Now’s your chance – Beauty Bootcamp is coming to Northern Ireland and one lucky Sunday World reader will be offered a place a day long course to learn how to look like a movie star. After eight ground-breaking years in the Republic, tv personality Liz Dwyer is bringing her unique beauty experience north of the border.

And her aim - “To teach regular women how to apply their make-up like a pro, style their hair like a red-carpet regular and to impart all the backstage tricks and insider tips to boot.”

As presenter of TV3’s Extreme Beauty and Beauty Editor of IMAGE magazine she admits to being fascinated with turning the “ordinary into the stunning.”

Since starting out as a columnist with the Sunday World she has been at the forefront of educating audiences of all ages and stages on the cutting edge of the industry’s products and treatments.

“It was one of my first gigs as a women’s columnist,” she recalls

While writing for beauty magazines she found herself at a number of high profile photo shoots. She described becoming fascinated by models who sat down in the make up chair as normal girls and stood up looking like “Glamorous Vixens.”

“I used to drive the hair and make-up people crazy,”  she said, “ I was always asking, “how do you do that?” I was always more interested in the behind the scenes.”

Then she would go home and practice on her sister.

“I wish someone had taught me how to do that at a younger age women are expected to know what to do without any training.”

This experienced expert claims that women are often using the wrong products and techniques.

It was this that inspired Dwyer to launch Beauty Bootcamp and give all women a glance behind the locked doors of the world of glamour.

Liz  and her team of professional hair and make up artists decided to start cautiously, booking a room for just two  weeks, but they soon had bookings for an entire year.

“We literally got booked out for the year and we had to get a studio.

“I rounded up some of the best hair and make-up people in the business and together we created Beauty Bootcamp.”

Among them is make up artist Naomh Geddy who has worked on shows such as the X-Factor and whose client base stretches  from Ireland to LA.

In the hair department, Leonora Robero, a multi award winning stylist whose experience ranges from magazine shoots to film sets to fashon shoots.

“You have to learn by doing it yourself, it’s like a cookery school,” she explained. Top profession stylists and make-up arts will reveal the tricks of the trade before getting you to do it for yourself.

“By the end of the day you have brought yourself up to a finer look.”

This fashion journalist says that she is delighted that her bootcamp clients have access to top products without it being a “sales pitch.”

With 500 foundations to chose from you won’t be short of choice!

After eight successful years in the south she decided it was time to expand the initiative. With 30% of her Bootcamp customers travelling from the North to attend her unique course, she decided Belfast was the place to go.

And once established she intends recruiting local professionals to conduct the courses.

“We have a lot of people over 40,”  she said, emphasising that Bootcamp is open to  people of all ages.

The day long course, which is broken into two halves;  make-up and hair, is tailored to the individual and is aimed to help ladies with the difficulties that plague their own beauty routine; thick hair, fine, hair greasy hair, make-up tones, colour theory.

Whatever your gripe the beauty Bootcamp makes it their job to help you overcome it.
