How to tackle chapped lips

It’s one thing to have dry skin, but when it is on your lips, it’s even more annoying. Dry lips become chapped, and it’s caused by weather, wind and general exposure to the elements. Also, your lips don’t contain oil glands like your skin does, so they can become chapped very easily. In fact, dry puckers are also one of the signs of more widespread body dehydration. If you don’t drink enough during the day, you may start to feel your mouth drying out. If you do though, it’s important to try not to lick them. This is because soon after, they feel dry again, so you lick them once more. This turns into a continuing cycle of lip-dehydration, because saliva evaporates, and more moisture escapes, making them even drier than before. Biting and chewing can produce the same effect, so if you find yourself doing this often, try to kick the habit.
